About me

With a strong foundation in estate planning and administration, Gemma brings a thoughtful and strategic approach to helping clients secure the best possible outcome and navigate the legal intricacies of wills, powers of attorney, and deceased estate matters.

As a Junior Lawyer at Canny Legal, Gemma is committed to delivering clear, compassionate legal advice to individuals and families. She understands that planning for the future or managing the estate of a loved one can be emotionally charged and legally complex. That’s why Gemma takes the time to ensure every client feels supported and informed throughout the process.

What sets Gemma apart is a growing passion for estate litigation, from resolving will disputes and contested estates to VCAT Guardianship Applications. Whether advocating for fairness or helping to interpret a loved one’s intentions, she approaches each matter with empathy, precision, and an eye for detail.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Laws from Deakin University, Gemma is continuously building expertise in both transactional and contentious aspects of estate law. She values the opportunity to stand beside clients during difficult times, providing clarity, advocacy, and peace of mind throughout.

Outside of work, you’ll often find Gemma going to dance and Pilates classes or playing tennis on the weekend. When Gemma is not out and about playing sports, you’ll find her spending time with friends and family at her favourite local coffee shops around the surf-coast area. Gemma values keeping active and spending time with loved-ones and utilises her free time to ensure she maintains a healthy work/life balance.

If you’re seeking guidance in estate planning or facing a potential will dispute, Gemma is here to help guide you through every step of the way.

Wightman Legal supports clients from all walks of life, at all stages of life.
