Adam is one of Geelong’s most experienced and respected family lawyers!

Prior to finding his home at Wightman Legal, formerly Canny Legal, Adam worked at two of Geelong’s top legal firms for a total of 18 years.  Having practised exclusively in the area of family law since 2007, it goes without saying that Adam is highly regarded and trusted amongst our clients in his specialised field of family law.

Adam has been involved in many complex family law property settlement/financial, and parenting matters, which have enabled him to gain considerable expertise in these difficult and often highly emotional areas.

He appreciates the stress and challenges faced by our clients during separation, and he takes the time to adopt a sensitive and pragmatic approach when assisting them in dealing with this difficult time in their lives.  Adam always aims to reduce the tension and anxiety our clients are experiencing by providing them with a friendly and relatable service that offers amicable outcomes for separating couples, whilst also providing strong and robust representation where necessary.

With a degree in Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts (Majoring in International Relations and Journalism), Adam was initially trained in a variety of different areas of law at one of Geelong’s most prestigious law firms (including Commercial Law) prior to his decision to practice exclusively in the area of family law in 2007.  Since that time, Adam has been a prominent member of the Geelong family law community and regularly appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Court as well as the Geelong Magistrates Courts.

An understanding and appreciation of the difficulties of managing young children whilst also maintaining busy careers is just one of the reasons why this makes Adam is a leader in the industry.

Born, raised and educated in the Geelong region, Adam works alongside his wife Karlene (who also happens to be Wightman Legal’s Wills and Estates expert)!  Outside of the office, you can usually find Adam and Karlene driving their children around to their various activities, and also bike riding and enjoying travelling together.
